Hi everyone!
We at TerraBuilder are working on a fully-featured spaceflight simulator "FSX SpacePort", focusing on present and soon-to-be launch vehicles and habitats, and with emphasis on STEM realism (detailed instrumentation, cockpits, procedures, etc...). FSX SpacePort spaceflight simulator is based on Microsoft's Flight Simulator X (FSX) technology, with an add-on module that expands FSX envelope and allows for spaceflight (something not possible in "stock" FSX). We are well into the development stage of the project, and expect a release sometimes this summer. The project will allow user to construct a launch vehicle stack, and launch payload (manned or unmanned) into Earth's orbit, up to 30,000 km in height. There are also possibilities of modelling Moon, Mars and other solar system bodies, and we are looking into that.
Our "base" launch system is NASA's SLS: Check out the video we created recently, showing the launch of the SLS Block 1 with manned Orion on top:
While this is a fully-featured spaceflight and STEM simulator and therefore it does not qualify for this contest, we hope our work will serve as an inspiration and a starting point to other creative minds out there. Also, once the project matures sufficiently (and hopefully, before the deadline) we will enter the contest with a more complete video created using the simulation!
In the meantime, please feel free to check out and follow our progress through the following channels:
TerraBuilder web site
STEAM storefront kiosk
Facebook project page
YouTube video channel
Best regards from TerraBuilder team!
